Not only was this a good story, but the locale (the Fens) was different and interesting and enhanced the story. Never having heard of the area, it had me running to Google to learn about it. I very much like pol

I read mostly European mysteries and this one was only mediocre. It does have a decent plot, but the writing is not so great and the dialogue at times is very cliched. So are the two main characters. The brisk, argumentative young

Crime on the Fens came highly recommended by a fellow friend and book blogger, so I thoroughly expected to enjoy it. What surprised me a bit was just how much I did. When the book opens, Nikki Galena is a world class witch (you know what I really mean), and even though she has good reason to whirl through town

Gets a little boring at the beginning, hence 4 stars instead of 5. The slow pace was mostly due to repeated examples of how unlikable the female main character was. I probably would've stopped reading when I felt I'd had enough of her attitu

I thought this was really enjoyable easy read. It came up as an recommendation and really appealed to me as I holiday regularly in East Anglia so know the feel of that area well.

The feeling on menace on the fens at night and in the estate where quite a lot of the action takes place are both developed well

Glad to have discovered the Fens series of books. Really enjoyed this , the first in the series. The story introduces DI Galena and Sergeant Easter. As with so many fictional detectives, they are both troubled individuals, damaged by their past. Both back stories are interesting and the characters are well devel

D.I Nikki Galena doesn't always play by the rules. Because of things that have happened privately and personally she walks a fine line. But n

Enjoyed the story line and the connection between DI Nikki Galena, Joseph and her team. Very atmospheric and descriptive of the fens and area, must admit I have never been but could clearly see it in my imagination. I like t

This series is becoming one of my favourites, always a fast paced story with unexpected twists, likeable characters (except the bad guys) and atmospheric descriptions of the Fens. The language is very strong sometimes but even I could not expect an overworked policeman to describe a murdering drug dealer as 'a very naughty boy'
